Venus Blooms bridges feminine aesthetics with vintage psychedelia and grunge, in collections inspired by the fashion of our favourite decades. I started on this journey in June 2017, and haven’t halted the cogs of creation ever since, hand making unique and extremely limited edition items in my CBR home. Venus Blooms attempts to create clothing that enhances the individual, arouses the spirit and promotes ethical slow fashion principles.
It all started in the slightly stale smelling, carpet stained and intensely silent halls of Salvation Army op-shops, although the sounds of INXS, and the ever charming Daryl Braithwaite constantly graced the store’s PA system. I have always had a fascination with second hand clothes, shifting through every single coat-hanger on every rack, until something vintage was found. Soon I had collected so many amazing things that I wanted to share them. So I started selling clothing on Depop, a mobile platform for selling second hand pieces, and found so much joy in the entire process: sourcing, styling, shooting, selling and shipping the items, that I found myself investing more and more into my little project. Every dollar in profit was put straight back into growing stock levels, both vintage and curated accessories; jewellery and sunglasses. It was only a matter of time until I used my sewing skills, keen aesthetic eye and creativity to design my own clothing. And so, Venus Blooms was born.
Venus Blooms has had its online store for two years now, exhibiting a collection of curated pieces, as well as our own label of clothing.
